India's 100 largest listed cities add up to roughly 290.5 million people. Delhi (34.7 million), Mumbai (22.1 million) and Kolkata (15.8 million) lead the list, with 97 other cities behind them. Most figures are 2025 estimates and should be read as approximate.
Applying state-level hospital-bed ratios to these populations gives about 5,20,000 hospital beds, including some 26,000 ICU beds, in an estimated 14,000 hospitals (roughly 4,600 public and 9,100 private). Across India the average is about 1.39 beds per 1,000 people, well under the WHO's often-quoted benchmark of 3.
On the national ratio of one practising doctor per 811 people, these cities would have about 3,60,000 doctors and 6,50,000 nurses and midwives across all systems of medicine. A dermatologist is one of many specialities within that total. Specialist head-counts are not published city by city, so these figures show scale, not how many dermatologists practise in India.
India has national infant mortality of 24 per 1,000 live births (2024) and life expectancy of about 72 years. This page lists 100 dermatologists across these cities, and every city and state below has its own page with maps, qualifications to check and answers to common questions.
General information compiled from public sources (MoHFW, SRS 2024, CDDEP / One Health Trust, UN WPP 2024, Census 2011); estimates, not official counts, and not medical advice.
We hold dermatologists listings for 100 Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Surat and others. Each city has its own page with contact details and local information.
This page shows 100 listed providers across 100 cities. It is a starting point rather than a complete register, so use the qualification and registration checks on each city page before booking.
There is no single best doctor for everyone: the right choice depends on your condition, budget and city. Shortlist two or three dermatologists, check their qualification and registration with the NMC / State Medical Council register, and compare facilities and communication. Dadu Medical Centre (Delhi) is the first listing on this page - confirm details by phone.
A dermatologist is a medical doctor with a postgraduate degree in skin diseases. "Cosmetologist" is a broader title that can include non-doctors. For diseases, infections or anything involving prescription medicines, choose a registered dermatologist.
Sometimes. Persistent itching, dark patches or recurrent infections can be connected to diabetes, thyroid disease or nutritional deficiencies, so a dermatologist may suggest blood tests alongside skin treatment.
