Taken together, the 100 cities in this directory have an estimated 290.5 million residents (about 2,905 lakh) in 2025. The largest are Delhi (34.7 million), Mumbai (22.1 million) and Kolkata (15.8 million), followed by 97 smaller cities. Population figures come from the UN's 2024 urban-area estimates for the biggest cities and from scaled Census 2011 data for the rest.
Applying state-level hospital-bed ratios to these populations gives about 5,20,000 hospital beds, including some 26,000 ICU beds, in an estimated 14,000 hospitals (roughly 4,600 public and 9,100 private). Across India the average is about 1.39 beds per 1,000 people, well under the WHO's often-quoted benchmark of 3.
On the national ratio of one practising doctor per 811 people, these cities would have about 3,60,000 doctors and 6,50,000 nurses and midwives across all systems of medicine. Nutritionists and dietitians are not counted in medical registers, and "nutritionist" is not a protected title in India, so qualifications matter more than the label. Specialist head-counts are not published city by city, so these figures show scale, not how many nutritionists practise in India.
India has national infant mortality of 24 per 1,000 live births (2024) and life expectancy of about 72 years. This page lists 647 nutritionists across these cities, and every city and state below has its own page with maps, qualifications to check and answers to common questions.
General information compiled from public sources (MoHFW, SRS 2024, CDDEP / One Health Trust, UN WPP 2024, Census 2011); estimates, not official counts, and not medical advice.
We hold nutritionists listings for 100 Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Surat and others. Each city has its own page with contact details and local information.
This page shows 647 listed providers across 100 cities. It is a starting point rather than a complete register, so use the qualification and registration checks on each city page before booking.
There is no single best doctor for everyone: the right choice depends on your condition, budget and city. Shortlist two or three nutritionists, check their qualification and registration with there is no statutory register for "nutritionist" in India; the Indian Dietetic Association offers the RD credential, so ask to see qualification certificates, and compare facilities and communication. Dt. Priyanka Jaiswal’s Diet2nourish (Delhi) is the first listing on this page - confirm details by phone.
Healthy weight change is generally gradual. Be cautious about plans that promise very fast results, rely on supplements or cut out whole food groups.
A good plan usually adapts to your culture, budget and preferences rather than banning foods. Sustainable changes you can keep up for months matter more than strict short-term diets.
